  • Enjoy DVD and video with your new Motorola mobile phone: CLIQ, Droid a For the declining aristocracy MOTOROLA, any small profit has belongs to rare good. So when the company recently posted surprise third-quarter profits, Motorola stuffs are filled with happy. Namely the MOTOROLA finally successfully achieved the quarter profit. MOTOROLA has revealed the company is expected to launch less mobile phone in the fourth quarter of the year, this basically to get rid of some "cannot profit" failure. So, armed with Cliq, Droid and the MotoBlur interface, it just might be a new day for Motorola.
The Droid phone, codenamed Sholes — named for the inventor of the typewriter — was expected to arrive at Verizon this month, and now has become the focus of attention. Meanwhile T-Mobile is offering Motorola’s CLIQ, an Android-based, MOTOBLUR-running, physical keyboard phone. It is available now for $199 (for current T-Mobile customers).
What are the main characteristics between T-Mobile’s CLIQ and Verizon’s Droid?

  • Storing and Dialing Vanity Numbers My friends and family are signing up for Google Voice accounts. Google Voice allows users to pick a phone number by words that make up the phone number (Vanity numbers). For example (234) ED-SMITH would be (234) 337-6484. I realize that I could type the number into my Contacts list once and forget about it. However, to help me remember what the number spells out, I would like to store the number as the alpha characters in the Contacts list. I can do that, but when I go to dial that number, the alphabetic characters do not dial and I get an error message from the operator. Is there a fix or a hack to allow dialing from the contacts list using alpha characters in the telephone fields?

  • Ringer Changing Modes My Tilt changes the ringer setting without being touched, and for some unknown reason it changes to silent. This happens to me using the sound controls installed with the WM6.1 patch. When I have automatic selected, it will change the sound mode to silent when on a voice call. I'd like it to stay on automatic, and have no idea why it switches like that. Is it a bug in the new selector? Can some programmer let me know?

  • Issues with the new Sound manager for the at&t Tilt with WM 6.1 I upgraded my Tilt to WM 6.1. I have been using the new functionality of the new OS, including the added Sound Manager that manages the ringer type. I have chosen to use the Automatic setting on the manager to allow the phone to automatically switch the ringer from Normal (audio) to Vibrate based on Calendar entries on the phones, which is very handy for me.

One thing I am irritated about is that the Manager will automatically switch to vibrate, no matter what the Calendar entries are, including if the entry is set to status is Free. This means that during holidays or extended vacations, the phone is set to vibrate the entire day, which is rather annoying. Obviously, I can manually set the ringer mode to Normal (audio), but it is obviously very inconvenient to change that all the time, and I hate being woken up in the middle of the night for alerts of automated spam emails that get sent out in the middle of the night when I forget to switch to vibrate.

Is there a plan to add more intelligence into that program (i.e do not switch modes for Calendar entries that have the Status set to Free)?

    Thanks

  • Need to Upgrade to WM 6 or 6.1, but past HTC deadline. PLEASE HELP. I recently had to return to using a favorite phone of mine, the Cingular 2125, after I had returned a company phone. It is running Windows Mobile 5.0. I need to upgrade it to WM 6 or 6.1, but I can find no where on the internet that I can download an upgrade, either for free or for a fee. I am past the 10/31/08 deadline to download from htc.com, but I want to continue using this phone with the latest OS possible. Please help. Anyone able to post a link to a third-party site I can download a legal, verified upgrade?
