What is Windows Mobile 6.1

Pardon the delay. The old trusty computer had a pair of capacitors go to electronics heaven taking the rest of the mainboard with them. All my old bookmarks and usual daily items are setting on the hard drive on the bench waiting for me to go buy one of those ide/usb cable kits to pull the handy old info into this current win7 machine.

So, need it or not? I would suggest making a copy and running it off to a long term storage bin. If you have WM5 on your 8525 you should upgrade to the WM6.0. It is a little different, a little easier to work with. In particular the WiFi is easier deal with.

I have TomTom5 on mine, and the external bluetooth satalite locator (G-Sat BT359) seems more responsive. Under WM5 while driving down the highway, it seemed the travel progress "hopped' a couple of hundred feet at a time. Under WM6.0 it seems to update more often so the you are here travel icon scrolls along rather than hop.

Oh,be sure to back up everything you want to keep, and charge the battery to FULL before running the RUU. As with all previous ATT RUU it will wipe out the previous ROM contents, then write itself in. So, all your old apps, rings, wallpaper, pictures, videos, etc. will be gone. Back em up first. ATT says there is no going back to wm5 which is their warning that the previous rom is not saved.

You may want to look up installing ruu on att. It was simple enough, Charge up, back up. Sync and run the RUU from the desktop computer. The phone lites up with a boot loader screen. and 5 minutes later its upgraded to WM6.0. I stepped out to accept a FedEx and it was completed when I returned.
