I have had my HTC Universal for more than a year now and from last month, I have started to experience issues with the touchscreen. Many times during the day, touchscreen stops to work. First I thought the OS is crashed but I noticed I could still use the keyboard.
Sometimes the problem goes away with aligning the screen but in most cases it just doesn't work. I have to play with it for few minutes before it starts working again. I did a hard reset once and I was stuck on the screen alignment for few minutes. This seems to be a hardware related issue as the problem did not go away with a hard reset. Has anybody else had a similar problem? If not, I will have to ask O2 to have a look at it.

Hi,
I had bought DOPOD 900 online. I had enquired the seller about its compatibility. Still when received the phone is ok but the software is in some other language. Maybe Chinese. I cannot sync pocket pc at all!!! These are the issues with the phone: 1) After hearing music from it...it switches and does not start again till 15 minutes even though trying again and again 2) When trying to save a contact it shows only name and contact number (unlike Qtek 1010) which I had since 3 years and which can add all the details home phone, office, etc. 4) When saving as outlook contact it shows as unnamed contact. Can someone please assist in getting an English version of the software to sync? Appreciate your assistance. Regards

Hi, I bought a htc univeral from a european company and love the device, but the band settings are wrong for the US, is there something I can do, or firmware I can get that will correct this. I am able to use it as a phone, but it drops calls very frequently..I have cingular and my other cingular phones dont drop the calls in the same place.

I have the QTEK 9000. I am in south Florida, Vero Bech ..... and on the beach-side reeive absolutely no bars ( signal ) strength.
On the city-side, it works ok . Other with Cinglular service receive four or five bars. Do I have a unit with defective antennae ? Has anyone else had similar problems? Otherwise, the phone is great. For the next generation, HTC ought to place a small screen and tactile keypad on the front ... .... as Nokia does with the 9300 ...... comments to v1victor@aol.com kwv

No there is no user accessible GPS. It does however work well with the myriad of BT GPS receivers around. The USB port is a client port, so don't go looking for a USB GPS; won't work. You could also get an SDIO GPS, but I expect most will be using the SD slot for memory.
As far as nav/map applications, I can confirm Mapopolis and Pocket Streets work fine. Haven't tried others.

Is there a way that we can get some help form HTC when it comes to linux porting to the HTC Universal. Reverse engineering it's realy hard, wnd we realy need some help to solve the power issue, like charging and the phone issue. As you can see we have gatherd a lot of information using a reverse engineering tool, but as you can see it takes a lot of time. I think the Universal will be a killer device with a fully linux OS running on it. So please give us the information we need, so we can prove it.
Here is status of the linux port : http://www.handhelds.org/moin/moin.cgi/UniversalStatus goxboxlive

Is it possible to modify the Universal to work on the 850 mhz GSM either through HTC or used parts from other HTC products?

I've had the phone for two months.
The phone is well designed. I particularly like that it charges through the USB cable while connected to my laptop....means one less "brick" to carry ..... I have two issues: 1 ) I am in a hotel in Tokyo....the signal strength is almost non-existent in my room ...but occasionally it comes back .... and I have the same problem in my condo at home in Washington, DC Does anyone have any idea of how to correct this? 2 ) In attempting to access the internet, the Wi-Fi seems not to work ....even when a strong signal shows....the phone defaults to the cellular network.... Does anyone have any idea of how to correct this?

I heard rumors that there will be a HTC Universal II out by 2007 which is suppose to be thinner and have more features. Is this true? If so, did anyone hear what will be the new additions to it?
Thank you.

Anyone know if there's a user-accessable GPS in this unit? Something that TomTom could use, perhaps?
