Setup Email on my MDA

The MDA can synchronize with your POP3/IMAP4 personal e-mail accounts. Follow the steps below to start receiving e-mail on your MDA.

  1. Tap Start > Programs > Messaging > Outlook E-Mail
  2. Select Menu > Tools > New Account
  3. Enter your e-mail address and click Next
  4. Let the Auto configuration wizard attempt to configure the settings and click Next or just click Next during the configuration to skip it
  5. Enter Your name as you want it displayed
  6. Enter your User Name and Password
  7. Check the Save Password box and click Next
  8. Select the account type (POP or IMAP)
  9. Name the account and click Next
  10. Enter the incoming and outgoing mail server addressFigure 3
    • If necessary, enter the domain name (Most ISPs do not require a domain)
    • Tap Options for additional options. See below.
  11. Tap Finish to complete the setup
    • A message “Would you like to download mail for this new account now?” window will appear. To download messages immediately, tap Yes. To download messages later, tap No.

Additional E-Mail Setup Instructions

  1. On the E-Mail Setup 5/5 page, tap Options
  2. To change the interval that the MDA automatically checks for new messages, check the Connect and check for messages every: box
    • Specify an interval (in minutes) to automatically check for e-mail
    • Ensure the connection is set to The Internet
    • Tap Next
  3. To specify the amount of email to be displayed, check the Only display messages for the last box
    • Specify the amount of e-mail to display (in days)
    • If necessary, check the Require SSL connection box
    • If required, check the Outgoing mail requires authentication box
    • Tap Next
  4. Choose to download either the entire message or just the message header from the dropdown menu
    • If downloading message headers, specify an amount of the message body to also download (in KB)
  5. Click Finish
