My mom bought me a micro sd card for my phone. I put it in all seems fine. I added music to the micro SD card but i cant seem to access it in the media player. I wanna listen to my music on my phone but how do i do it?

i really don't know the language to use here, but here's my problem. my daughter had her phone is a location where there was no service. when she moved, she got about 20 messages all at once. when she tried to go read the messages she said that the phone was frozen. so she took out the battery and put it back in. since then, when we turn on the phone, we get nowhere past the initial "Bell" blue screen. we can't even turn it off again without removing the battery? i've tried to plug it into the wall, the computer, nothing. i tried turning it on and holding the red, green and camera buttons like mentioned on this site, but nothing? am i suppose to chuck this 6 month old phone? please help..thanks! ANYONE?
