Although I haven't had a chance to look through the entire site here, I'm hoping someone may still have access to or have a copy of the original ROM for this device. But the question is, how do I install it? The S640 will only boot up to the HTC welcome screen and stays there draining the battery and eventually powering off and thats after putting it through full factory restore. I can get to the bootloader screen and no further, it just hangs there until the battery is fully drained! If there are any ## codes please pass those along to me as well. Brand new battery installed 03/2009. Thanks in advance.

This is my third and final refurbished S640 according to Telus Canada's return policy. The problem now is that the unit stalls on the HTC logo screen and goes no further. Attempts to restore it to factory default do not work! No Windows Mobile - nothing. My thinking is that I will need to flash the s640 with the original ROM and proceed with the upgrade thereafter. (I already had the upgrade installed when it was released earlier in the year, and it worked fine up until a few days ago. I should mention, I recently purchased a brand new battery for the unit). I am thoroughly dissatisfied with this product and Telus Canada's lack of knowledge regarding this product line. They say to take it up with HTC, HTC says take it up with Telus. I need to know what steps I can take to rectify this problem.
The following are excerpts/quotes from a reply sent to me earlier today from HTC! Quote: "I know that this situation can be frustrating when your device does not respond the way you expect. You state that this replacement device sticks or freezes on the HTC logo screen. When the device freezes or sticks on a particular screen, this is usually software related". End quote.. Here is a little more food for thought... I asked if there was some way I could obtain a copy of the original ROM, here is their response. Quote: "I realize you would like to try a re-flash of the original ROM version but this software is no longer available on the HTC website. The Microsoft licensure expired for the Windows Mobile version 6.0 and the download link had to be removed from the HTC website back in October of last year". End quote. They further mention... Quote "If you still want to load the software, you are welcome to check out our customer based forum at www.htcwiki.com for a link or download information." End quote. Continued in next post. |

Do you travel across different time zones? I had this problem and associated it with travelling between time zones and the phone automatically updating the time but not handling the alarm times correctly if they are active when you sitch teh phone on/off as you change zones (being in teh UK most of the time this has to be on an airplane so it needs truning off!) , I have only considered this recently and on teh last trip turned the alrms off before turning the phone off and then switched the alarms back on when I reached the destination and the phone had automatically reset the time to local - so far no problems but it is a trail of two against maybe 20 previous visits.
