i have had my phone for 3 weeks now and no freezes. No luck with emai and managed to sign in to messenger.......once but now does not want to work. MSN mobile site (through the phone)keeps teling me that it is unavailiable at this time. hard to tell if i am on my home wifi ie connection or the wireless bell data conection. Problems with vista support and with instal for programs. Bluetooth seems to dissapear and have to reset up partnerships. bell support is like the blind leading the blind. activesync is very very slow while syncing mp3. My contacts show up as offline in messenger and will only allow me to send them an emial (which won't send). i know they are cause i see them signed in on another pc. The good is all features (for me) work or surpass expectations for everything NON-DATA related eg. cam, light up keypad,music,navigation,super cool looking, voice memo and well everything else PS love the flashlight. Needs some time to work out bugs as the phone is only out a few months now. If i can get this phone up and running fully it will be the coolest toy i own. For right now my psp will continue to outshine this thing (which is sad as the psp is 4 years old). If u are up for a challange buy the phone and surf the web for answers for fixes(but not off the phone hahahha)

Hey all, I have been using Skyfire for a while and it is a godsend. It loads web pages with the same look as the desktop with the ability to zoom in and out and supports YouTube! Also allows me to do my online banking at TD, which Pocket IE refused to to. Plus, pages load really fast, faster than Opera.
Although it's in beta, it is fairly stable. Give it try. www.skyfire.com |

Anyone know how to get youtube and other sites like it working on the htc 6800? I've downloaded flash player and something called flash assistant as well but its still not working. Whenever you click a link on youtube it opens windows media player and you get an error message. Has anyone got it working? If so, how??

My phone is now locked from file management and can't sync or rename, delete move files etc. It also can't download files. One Common error message is: "Cannot Delete File: Access Restricted". See this post: https://forums.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/showpost.aspx?postid=2369650&siteid=65&sb=0&d=1&at=7&ft=11&tf=0&pageid=1 I know that a hard reset will fix the problem but nuking my data is not an acceptable solution especially if it keeps happening. There is a major bug burried in this OS and it needs an update fast.

Does anyone know a way to get the Touch interface on the 6800 without having to install all the different apps individually? Is there any sort of package that includes the TouchFlo, contacts, menu etc apps bundled?

I just updated the ROM on my Bell HTC6800 using the kitchen provided by No_Chem. I'm just starting to play with the GPS capabilities and am wondering what port and baud setting is the built-in GPS set at? How can I test to see if the GPS works? I have a copy of TomTom from my old PPC that I plan to install into this phone but I'll obviously need to know what to set the settings in TomTom to.

| Anonymous | ROM version 2.17.666.2 What is that? | 2 | Sep 5 2008, 7:58 PM EDT by Anonymous | |||

Thread started: Sep 4 2008, 9:47 PM EDT

My 6800 from Bell came with ROM version 2.17.666.2 installed. After a week or two, I started experiencing hibernation problems (phone would periodically not wake up requiring a soft reset). I called HTC about this, and when I told them my ROM version, they said they never heard of it!!! According to HTC, the newest version is 2.17.666.1. They suggested I install this version to correct the hibernation problem. Does anyone else have the 2.17.666.2 ROM on their phone? Do you have hibernation issues? If I now install 2.17.666.1 isn't this a downgrade? I'm totally confused so any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

| Mooseman2 | Help available with the earpiece sound volume! | 6 | Aug 29 2008, 11:11 AM EDT by Mooseman2 | |||

For those of you still straining to hear your callers from the earpiece, there is a sort of "hack" available to increase the sound volume immensely:
http://pdaphonehome.com/forums/ppc-6800-xv6800/90858-moderate-fix-low-volume-issues.html I am using the "fine extended speaker" file and it works well. I suggest that you keep a copy of your original audiopara.csv file just in case you want to revert to it. I just drag and drop the new audiopara.csv file into the Windows folder of the mobile device using Windows Explorer from the desktop computer. It will ask you if you wish to replace the existing file. If it won't let you, check the file properties on the mobile device. You may need to enable "View all files" and "View system files" in your options. If it's set to "Read only" and "Hidden", remove those check marks. You should then be able to replace the file. Soft reset your phone and enjoy hearing people calling you!

I purchased an HTC 6800 from Bell two weeks ago. Since that time, on two occasions, the phone could not be woken up from sleep mode (by pressing the power button), and was unable to receive calls. A soft reset restored normal function. The phone has the very latest ROM version installed.
Has anyone else had this problem? Any fixes? |

I bought the Invisible Shield from Zagg (full body one). I just got it last night. Anyone thinking of buying this should know a few things.....
1) It doesn't cover the back, camera lens, or buttons on your phone (nor the small thin silver pieces on the side of the screen, but it does cover the top and bottom silver pieces). So, when they say you can throw your phone in your pocket with keys...well sure you can, but you'll probably still get a scratch eventually. 2) Yea it's invisible if you're looking at it from 3 or more feet away. Close up, well of course you can see it, though it's not too noticable 3) The top and lower side pieces are easy to put on. The upper side pieces are tricky so if you don't have patience or are a perfectionist, be prepared to spend a lot of time trying to get it on right. I live in T.O. and it took them almost a month to send me it. (But prolly cause they were backlogged with the new iphone shield orders). |

Whenever I power down my unit completely (not sleep mode but complete shutdown), and then power back on, the previous phone volume setting is not retained......rather it is reset to a very low level. The device and ringer volumes are not affected, only the phone volume. While this is a relatively minor bug, it is a pain to have to readjust the volume every time I power the phone up.
Has anyone else experienced this bug? Any fixes? Thanks very much

| Tobradex | Playing DIVX on the Bell HTC6800 | 2 | Jul 24 2008, 1:47 PM EDT by Anonymous | |||

Thread started: Jul 24 2008, 10:33 AM EDT

Some people may be experiencing slight choppiness or slight audio/video sync problems playing large or HD DIVX files on their HTC6800 phones. I know I did and I had a hard time fixing it. So I got something that seems to work alright and I thought I'd share and hopefully someone out there will be willing to share their tips too.
1) I used PocketDivXEncoder v3.60 (it's free). You can skip the first screen where it asks you what device you have and it should default to arachnos. If that screen bothers you tell it to never pop up again. First, fill in the "File to encode" field. (Pick that blue folder button and browse OR type in your file location/name) Second change the video quality to something between 16 and 25 (you can pick whatever you want but I found values in those ranges work best for quality vs size of file. Third change the audio quality to something between 4 and 7 (again just what I found to work best) Fourth change the "Output dimensions" by clicking that button and pick 320 on the left hand side and 240 on the right hand side (you might have to turn off the "Maintain aspect ratio" check box to have it let you do that. Then click "Apply" At this point you can go ahead and click "Encode Now" and it will make the file for you or if you're pick you can click "Advanced Options" and check off "Use two pass encoding". That will make it encode slower but better results. Finally once it's finished encoding, for saftey I click the "Correct Audio/Video synchronization" button and let it re-work the file. 2) I used DivXPlayer 0.9 on my HTC6800 to play the DivX file and I tell it under "Menu->Settings" to Start Fullscreen and "Default Mode: Rotate Left". I know a lot of ppl use TCPMP but I find it has a harder time with quick sceen changes and audio sync in DivX

Thank you in advance

I have tried playing a number of video files, all divx, on my new HTC 6800. While playing the video is choppy and when fullscreening the video fails hard, but the audio still plays. Is there anything I can do to make this work better or am I stuck with it?
