I have a 8525 from Cingular and downloaded the ROM upgrade utility but am having considerable trouble getting the upgrade to work. These are the things I have tried:
1. Run the utility after syncing the 8525 with my computer and still connected to the USB cable ---> result: I get the tri-color screen with USB at the bottom; if I continue on and select next: I eventually get a 264 error code 2. Run the utility first then connect the 8525 via USB after the utility has finished examining the computer; I sync with the computer and then select next; I select the upgrade; then select next; the screen goes black on the 8525 and I lose connection with the computer (battery is full and no other programs running); then get an error messae 260. Please help.

Since I uppgraded, I would be sitting on my office with 3 bars on my phone. After some time (as fast as 20 minutes), I lose my phone serice (nobars). I do a soft reboot and most of the time I get my bars back. This happens at least 4 times a day. Does anyone have any idea what's happening?

I am using the 8525 with the new rom update andWindows Mobile Device Center synching to Vista. I can set up a profile and start the sync but it never finishes. d do not get any conflicts. I need support and advice on what I can do to fix this problem.

I am having a problem viewing Cingular Videos. When I press 'play' it jumps to Real Player but then says 'Failed to Connect'. Anyone have any Idea what might be causing this? I have no problem connecting to the internet and have the right media plans etc..

After I installed the update my Wi-Fi has stopped working. The 8525 shows Wi-Fi is on. However my home network is displayed but unavailable. Internet access through G3 works fine. Any way I can return to the previous version?

The PTT button is in a terible location if you don't need or want the feature. We are constantly hitting it requiring and X out of the initializiation screen. Thanks!

My wife is doctor and she use 8525 for her software (mostly skyscape company). This week she asked me for the free software from http://www.epocrates.com/. It is called epocrates rx free. I installed it but it does not work and complaining that storage card is not ther (I have a 2gb card installed and other software are working just fine with that card). Can some kind soul check on there phone if this software works for them.
After this I am thinking of installing the official upgrade from htc website. Will Powerpoint/Word/ HTC Zip/Outlook will all be part of the upgrade rom. She uses powerpoint and word a lot and I don't want to loose them. For entertainment she use IE over Wifi. Will that still work ?

since the update i can recieve all emails, but can not reply to them or send new ones, it gives me an error that says " check network coverage". anyone know how to fix this??

The upgrade is a disappointment. Altough it applied to my device with no problems AT&T/HTC has watered down the upgrade. Here's a few of the things I've found
No Windows Live Out of Office for Exchange HTML email does not work MSN Mobile removed Windows messenger removed Does the Tilt have all these features? They must want you to upgrade to that device. |

I ran the update last week and now am unable to synchronize the sub-folders in Outlook. I know that in Outlook on the 8525 I should be able to go into Menu and "manage folders" but this option is grayed out (so I can't select it). Is there a work around for this?

Upon updating my phone with the new AT&T 8525 ROM Update, there is now no camera functionality in the software and therefore I cannot access the camera. Is there a separate ROM update for the camera version of the 8525?

These are the issues that I have noticed with my 8525 and the new AT&T Branded firmware update.
1) Phone locks up Constantly!!! Have to reset it at least 5+ times a day 2) MicroSD card slot now looses connection to the SD Card and/or scrambles the card! I had to restore my card contents at least 3 times already, I use it for my GPS maps, MP3's and pictures... I've already lost about 80+ pictures I took while on vacation, that I will never get back!!!! That really hurts! 3) serious memory leaks, when I soft reset the phone, I have about 30MB of RAM, not taking any phone calls or launching any applications, after several hours, it's down to 12MB free, and Nothing running! That is a big problem! 4) when multitasking (more than one app running) if I get a text message, phone call, or Calendar reminder, the phone slows to a complete crawl to where you have to soft reset it to get it back. 5) the lock feature in WM5 locks all the buttons, but when you in a phone call, the hangup button is unlocked and when your phone is in a pouch, pulling the phone out, even locked, will sometimes hangup on your call... or if you use a headset, bumping your phone in the pouch will also do the same. these are just this issues I have come across, and from what I can see, there are many many more...

I recently upgraded my phone with the new firmware all is well with one exception. I have a TomTom 910 which used to access the phone as a bluetooth modem for traffic and weather. Ever since I upgraded the firmware the phone only shows up as a hands free device to the TomTom now.
Any thoughts? Thanks Nick
